Immobile: Only death is certain

Ciro Immobile is not taking for granted that he will be selected in Italy’s final 23-man squad for the World Cup in Brazil.

The 24-year-old is currently taking part in a 30-man Azzurri training camp in Coverciano but, with the party still needing to be cut by ten, he is not counting his chickens.

“The only certain thing is death!” Immobile said at a Press conference today. “A place in the 23 is still up for grabs.

“My first two targets have already been achieved: to win the Capocanniere and to be included in the provisional 30-man squad.

“We are here to go and play in the most important football tournament but the decision the boss has to make will be difficult. Leaving two forwards at home won’t be easy.”

The Torino front man then analysed some of his competition for a place in Brazil.

“Me with Balotelli? That’s a decision the boss will take. We put ourselves at his disposition, so if he chooses me, Mario or others, we will all be ready.

“Up front and being in and around the penalty area is more Destro rather than myself and Balotelli.

“Mario likes to go and get on the ball because if he doesn’t have it he doesn’t feel part of the game.

“I like to attack the spaces. The boss knows very well how he needs to get us to play and how to use us.

“Being Capocanniere in Serie A gives you exposure and that is good for attracting the interests of big European clubs.”
