There are reports Ciro Immobile tested negative for Covid-19, but the local health authority still won’t release the Lazio striker to play for Italy.

The forward is waiting for the all-clear and would be potentially thrown straight into the starting XI for tomorrow night’s Nations League match against Poland.

According to LaLazioSiamoNoi and Tuttomercatoweb, Immobile has provided two negative swabs in a row.

The forward is waiting for the all-clear and would be potentially thrown straight into the starting XI for tomorrow night’s Nations League match against Poland.

According to LaLazioSiamoNoi and Tuttomercatoweb, Immobile has provided two negative swabs in a row.

These were processed by the Futura Diagnostica laboratory in Avellino, which is the centre of an investigation into irregular results.

However, the local health authority (ASL) is still not releasing him from self-isolation because of the infamous ‘N’ gene.

That is the third element of a Covid-19 test that is checked in some laboratories and not others.

Lazio President Claudio Lotito argued it was irrelevant because it showed the presence of Covid-19, but not that the player was infectious.

This is part of the controversy around the Lazio tests and it seems the ASL is erring on the side of caution now.
