Ciro Immobile dedicated Lazio’s 2-1 win against Fiorentina last night to ‘those who wrote us off’.

Lazio were trailing 1-0 until Immobile’s penalty and a Luis Alberto strike secured all three points, closing the gap on Juventus at the Serie A summit back to four points.

“We’re happy with the result,” the striker told DAZN after the match.

“In turning the game around, we again showed the great spirit of this team.

“Some people forget we didn’t play for three months. I’m satisfied with our performance, despite a sub-par first half.

“Our first game back against Atalanta was tough, but we must look forward and continue this fantastic season.

“We were disappointed about what happened in Bergamo, but we had an excellent game tonight.

“More than a message to Juve and Inter, this victory is a message to those who wrote us off.”

The 30-year-old is now level on 127 Serie A goals with former Milan hitman Andriy Shevchenko and eight away from matching Gonzalo Higuain’s seasonal record of 36…

“I’m not thinking about those things. I’m just thinking about doing well.

“I have to improve physically because there are 10 games left and we have to go at it.”
