Lazio captain Ciro Immobile hit out at Roma goalscorer Gianluca Mancini for showing a ‘lack of style’ in celebrating the derby win with an insulting flag.

The Giallorossi emerged 1-0 winners at the Stadio Olimpico this evening thanks to the Mancini header on a Paulo Dybala corner.

It was a traditionally tense affair between the historic rivals, including several flashpoints such as Paulo Dybala taking off his shinpad to show France international Matteo Guendouzi an image of his World Cup trophy with Argentina.

After the final whistle, the Roma players ran to celebrate under the Curva Sud with their ultras and Mancini waved a giant flag that read: ‘Anti Lazio’

There was another flag he later also waved that had the shape of a large rat in the Lazio colours.

This did not sit well with Immobile, who spoke to DAZN.

“It was a bit chaotic at the end. These things happen in the derby, but there are ways of celebrating. Some do it with style, others lack it, but these are points of view.”

Some tried to criticise Mancini for waving the flag when he is an Italy international and “meant to represent everyone,” but the Rome Derby has seen far worse than this.

Famously, Francesco Totti showed off a shirt under his jersey that read: ‘I have purged you again.’

  1. I seriously don’t understand these Lazio players, supporters & their president. Very sure, they also showed lack-of-respect multiple times when they won Derby della Capitale. And now they’re complaining?
