Ciro Immobile said it’s “a wonderful story” facing Juventus with Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
The striker was in Italy this evening to pick up his award during the Gran Gala del Calcio, voted top right-sided striker by the Italian Players’ Association, beating Francesco Totti and Luca Toni.
“The award as Capocannoniere is certainly important, especially as at the start of my Serie A career I wasn’t scoring many goals and took a while to get going,” declared Immobile.

“I have to thank all my Toro teammates, the Coach and the club. We were able to complete this transfer to Borussia and it’s a great opportunity for my career.”
He’ll face Juve, the club he grew up in and who co-owned him with Torino until the summer.
“Taking on Juventus in the Champions League is a wonderful story. I remember when I was six years old and watched the 1997 Final against Borussia Dortmund.
“It’s pleasing to reunite with an Italian side and some of my former teammates. In Germany they said Juve were the strongest of the second-placed teams in the draw, so it’s only normal they are worried.
“However, we know our strengths and are confident. All my teammates asked me what it’s like to face Juve.”
