The TV special for the Italy squad ahead of Euro 2020 saw Ciro Immobile, Lorenzo Insigne and Gianluigi Donnarumma provide backing vocals for a Neapolitan rapper.
The event on RAI Uno called Notte Azzurra was recorded last night and aired this evening.
It was meant to be a build-up to the announcement of the final 26-man squad for the tournament, but was filled with music and comedy interacting with the players.
This included Neapolitan rapper Clementino, who roped in players Immobile, Insigne and Donnarumma to provide his backing vocals.
They were chosen specifically because they are all from the Naples region.
There I was, thinking I was tuning into a simple squad announcement.
An hour and a half later, Ciro Immobile, Gigio Donnarumma and Lorenzo Insigne are on stage nailing some backing vocals.
