Borussia Dortmund striker Ciro Immobile is “pleased and emotional” at the idea of playing for hometown club Napoli.
The Italy international dropped numerous hints that he is considering his future after a disappointing debut season in Germany, but wants to wait until the new Coach gets to know him.
“Clearly it is pleasing to be linked with important clubs and this fills me with pride, as it means all my hard work actually meant something,” he told Sky Sport Italia during a charity event in Pescara.
“In a little while the pre-season training will begin in Germany, then we’ll see what happens.”
While Fiorentina, Roma and Milan have been linked with Immobile, the main contenders are his hometown club Napoli.
“It’s only natural that I am pleased with this rumour. I get emotional at the idea of being linked with Napoli, let alone wearing the club shirt.”
He was at Pescara for a testimonial, as this is where his career really took off in Serie B alongside Lorenzo Insigne and PSG star Marco Verratti.
“I am also always pleased to see Insigne and on international duty I shared a room with Verratti. It always makes me happy to see them.”
