Borussia Dortmund striker Ciro Immobile says he would ‘love to wear the Napoli shirt’ next season.

The Italian international moved to Germany last summer, but failed to make an impact in the Bundesliga, scoring just three times in 24 games.

“The experience with Borussia Dortmund hasn’t gone well, but it has still been good for me,” Immobile insisted, speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“Having an experience abroad in an important League like Germany was very important, as well as joining a team of champions.

“Having an experience abroad in an important League like Germany was very important, as well as joining a team of champions.

“It’s been a useful experience, irrespective of goals or appearances.

“Would I go back to Italy? I’ve never made any secret of the fact that I’d love to wear the Napoli shirt. I’ve said that several times.

“That said, there are negotiations and contracts to respect. There are a lot of strong players at Napoli, and there would be a lot of competition, but it’s normal that a Neapolitan player like me would love to wear that blue shirt.

“A front three of me, Lorenzo Insigne and Gonzalo Higuain? I don’t think that trident would be too bad!

“I met the President [Aurelio De Laurentiis] recently, we didn’t talk, I saw him with the national team, but we just said ‘hi’.

“We met in the dressing room, he gave me a pat on the shoulder and said ‘hey handsome’!”
