Ciro Immobile kept Karim Benzema at bay in the race for the European Golden Shoe this weekend but Dusan Vlahovic is slipping behind.

The Lazio star scored from the penalty spot to take his season goal tally to 27, one ahead of Benzema, who found the back of the net on Real Madrid’s day of celebrations. Things have been a little more difficult for Vlahovic following his move from Fiorentina in the January transfer window, and now he risks slipping down the ladder.

Immobile’s 54 points puts him second, far behind leader Robert Lewandowski, who has 68 points; He’s netted an incredible 34 Bundesliga goals this campaign. Benzema sits third with 52 points, just behind the Lazio star.

Vlahovic is down in sixth, having picked up 46 points as a result of his 23 league goals. He sits just behind Kylian Mbappe, who has scored one more time, and just ahead of Mohamed Salah, who has scored one less.

6 thought on “Immobile holds Benzema off in Golden Shoe race as Vlahovic slips back”
  1. U can score 300 goals for lazio and win 18 golden shoes, boots and sandals but ur still scrap u fraud of a striker

  2. Agree with Antm above
I don’t rate Immobile as a top player he’s failed the Azzurri failed badly in Spain and Germany
There’s a reason why no other club has ever tried to sign him because
HES POOR AT EURO AND INTERNATIONAL LEVEL

  3. @Ibrahim Rabah – yes, he is a legend in his own lunchtime. Worst striker that has ever pulled on an Azzurri shirt.

  4. These comments are absurd, Immobile’s record speaks for itself. Nobody in Serie A comes close to his number of goals in recent seasons. Just because Italy failed to qualify for the World Cup he has become despised by everyone except us Laziali. Maybe if he’d taken the penalties that Jorginho missed then Italy would be there. Maybe if the other strikers like Insigne and Berradi had scored some of their missed chances then Italy would be there. Maybe. To say he is a fraud and not recognise his achievements is just pathetic and bitter and to say he is the worst striker that has ever played for the Azzurri is just crazy. Zara? Eder? Borini? Giovinco? Delvecchio? Remember even players like Totti and Del Piero were hardly the stars for Italy that they were for their clubs.

  5. 100% agree with @Mak E Pizza no one has been there to help and support Ciro Immobile in the azzuri squad. It is unfair to dump the disappointment on Ciro when no one else did anything.
