Italy international Ciro Immobile landed in Istanbul this evening to complete his transfer from Lazio to Besiktas, greeted by hundreds of excited fans and fireworks.

The 34-year-old flew out from Rome, where he gave an emotional hug to a sobbing fan, and arrived on Turkish soil after 1am local time.

Despite the late hour, he was greeted by hundreds of celebrating Besiktas supporters with fireworks and flares.

He was wearing a special shirt with the image of an eagle, which is curiously both the symbol of Lazio and Besiktas, and made a gesture representing the eagle’s talons too.

The striker has signed a two-year contract and it is reported he took a pay cut, allowing the club to pay Lazio €2-3m.
