Ciro Immobile scored a first half hat-trick for the second time in his Serie A career, but is still furious with himself over the saved penalty in Lazio’s 6-1 win over Spezia.

The striker found the net three times before the break, completing his hat-trick with a header from a corner after Jeroen Zoet had parried the penalty.

“The credit has to be shared equally with my teammates who put me in a condition to score these goals and express myself to the best of my abilities,” Immobile told DAZN.

“Strikers always score a lot of goals with Maurizio Sarri, so I couldn’t wait to start working with him. We also really needed the support from our fans and they were spectacular today, so hopefully even more can come to the stadium very soon.”

Immobile saw his spot-kick saved by Zoet at full stretch, but made up for it on the resulting corner.

“I was really angry with myself, as last season I missed four penalties and it annoyed me to be getting them wrong again already. I changed angle at the last second and that irritates me.”
