Stoke City midfielder Giannelli Imbula is on the verge of a loan move to Serie A new boys Lecce, claim Sportitalia.

It’s claimed the €24m signing from 2016 could even complete the paperwork this evening and fly in for a medical tomorrow morning.

The 26-year-old Congo international spent last season on loan at Rayo Vallecano, where he made 24 competitive appearances with one goal and one assist.

Lecce are believed to be down to the details for a loan deal with option to buy for €4m.

“The worst choice (of my career) was to come to Stoke,” Imbula told RMC Sport in France.

“I could have been a little more patient in Porto, trying to adapt to the championship, especially as we changed Coaches. But the most unfortunate choice, I think, was Stoke.”

Before that move in January 2016 from FC Porto, Imbula had been heavily linked with both Inter and Milan.
