New Milan owner Gerry Cardinale was in Milano less than two weeks ago and took a picture while celebrating the Scudetto with Rossoneri fans in the city centre.

Nobody knew Cardinale at that time, so he was free to walk around the city and celebrate Milan’s title with Rossoneri fans on Sunday, May 22, minutes after a 3-0 win over Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia.

Cardinale was among the people who celebrated in the streets of Milan, waiting for their player’s return from Emilia Romagna. The picture of the 54-year-old Piazza Duomo was published by Il Corriere della Sera and has quickly become viral on social media.

The American entrepreneur has now signed the preliminary contracts to acquire the Serie A giants and will take full control of the club in a couple of months. RedBird Capital Partners have acquired Milan for €1.3 billion and an official announcement is expected tomorrow.
