Slovenia international Josip Ilicic could leave Atalanta this summer and Milan are reportedly interested in the forward.

The 33-year-old played 28 times in Serie A this term, contributing six goals and 10 assists in the League, but never quite reached the heights of his performances from 2019-20.

Ilicic arrived from Fiorentina in July 2017 and has impressed during his time with the Orobici, but had a difficult 2020-21, as he missed large chunks of the season after the lockdown in Italy.

The Slovenian returned to training in September after dealing with personal issues and had reportedly suffered from depression after the lockdown.

Tuttosport now reports the veteran could leave Gian Piero Gasperini’s side this summer, as his contract with La Dea expires in June 2022.

Atalanta don’t want to risk losing the player on a free transfer and the newspaper reveals Milan are interested but are not willing to spend too much money considering his age and contractual status.

Ilicic has played 149 competitive games with the Nerazzurri and has scored 56 goals and contributed 39 assists in the process.
