“As a man, the illness changed me a great deal,” Ilicic told Sky Sport Italia following today’s 3-0 win over Parma.

“I want to thank everyone who stood by me during this difficult time. I look at the world differently now. I thought many times that I might have to give up football, especially when I was in the hospital.

“I’m glad that Atalanta are doing well and it’s not about me, but the team. Finally we’re getting the goals that we deserved to score earlier in the season.”
