Chievo's Riccardo Meggiorini believes if Roma's Francesco Totti had executed his back-heel, 'people would talk about it for months'.

The striker was responsible for what many called the play of the month in the Flying Donkey's 4-0 crushing of Lazio, as he managed an incredible flying back-heel assist.

“The play was a consequences of my idiosyncratic way of using the right foot, which forced me to invent something so that I could hit the ball with my left,” he explained to Tuttosport.

“The ball was coming long and slow, I had the time to see who was in the middle of the box and I hit it with my back-heel. It worked out.

“Of course I'm aware that if something like this had been done by an absolute champion like Totti, people would be talking about it for months on end, but I'm happy anyway.

“The most important thing is that Chievo wins and not that people talk about me.”

Glowing from his new exposure, the 29-year-old did not rule out the possibility of a link with the national team in the future.

“Dreaming won't cost me anything, and if someone shows certain things then he might just get rewarded.”

In closing, Meggiorini had some words of praise for Chievo's Coach Rolando Maran.

“Ever since he came to Chievo he gave everyone a new faith.

“He picked back up players who didn't have much consideration and he created a group that is solid and compact.

“Maran knows how to handle a changing room and how best to exploit our skills.”
