Former Italian goalkeeper Giovanni Galli feels Dusan Vlahovic has ‘nothing less’ than Erling Haaland, as the Serbia international would also score 50 goals per season at Manchester City.

Galli previewed tonight’s big game in Serie A between Inter and Juventus talking about star strikers Lautaro Martinez and Vlahovic.

Former Italy international Galli is not only one of the best goalkeepers of the 80s but also became a football scout after his playing career, spotting talents such as Hamed Junior Traore and Amad Diallo.

Lautaro is the Serie A leading scorer with 19 goals in 19 league games this term.

“He is the key Inter player. Lautaro has become the leader of the team and he has reached great maturity,” Galli told Tuttosport.

“He feels more responsible since wearing the captain’s armband. Moreover, he has found an ideal teammate in Thuram, an ideal partner. The Frenchman does the dirty work, so Lautaro is fresh in front of the goal. He guarantees 22-25 goals every year.”

How about Vlahovic? The Serbian has netted 12 Serie A goals so far, including seven in the last six appearances.

“I have a weakness for Dusan. I’ve known him since his time in Florence, he is extraordinary,” admitted Galli.

“He has everything. Determination, desire, physicality and a lethal left foot. He is also strong with headers. Right now, he is physically fit, and he is the player we saw at Fiorentina. Physical problems tormented him for a year, but now he is proving to be a champion.”

What can Vlahovic aim for in his career? Can he become one of the best strikers in the world? Galli had no doubts.

“It may sound like a provocation, but it’s not. If I were Guardiola and asked to swap Vlahovic and Haaland, I’d do it,” he said.

“Dusan has nothing less than the Norwegian. He must make the most of every chance at Juventus because they don’t produce as many goal-scoring opportunities as Manchester City. But Vlahovic has scored 12 goals anyway. I’d like to see him in a more attacking-minded team. If he were at Manchester City, he’d also score 50 goals per season like Haaland, I am sure about it.”

Inter-Juventus kicks off at 19:45 GMT on Sunday. Click here for probable line-ups and follow the build-up and today’s Serie A games on the Football Italia LIVEBLOG.
