Following Rafael Leao’s star turn in the Derby della Madonnina, Italian media are arguing ‘if Jack Grealish is worth €117m, then the Milan striker is worth €400m!’

The Portugal international just turned 23 in June and has a release clause worth €150m in his contract, allowing the Rossoneri to ignore reported €100m proposals from Chelsea this summer.

His value on the market went up even more after two goals and an assist in the 3-2 victory over Inter at San Siro, including a stunning strike that saw him roll the ball between a crowd of defenders to go clear.

The Premier League’s big spending has skewed the worth of players on the transfer market and this is sparking a debate in Italy.

RaiSport pundit Francesco Repice commented after the derby “if Jack Grealish is worth €117m, then the Milan striker must be worth almost €400m!”

England international Grealish turns 27 next week and was purchased by Manchester City from Aston Villa in the summer of 2021 for €117.5m.

He has contributed six goals and four assists in 42 competitive games for the club.

  1. You can’t make a direct comparison with English players. Like the value of the pound, their value is overly inflated within what is a concocted bubble due to image rights, marketing and endorsement income, potential of representation of the national team, and all of the monetary benefits that come with that.

Why do you think Grealish and rice changed allegiances despite playing for Ireland previously? All because if they represent clubs in England and play for England, the money for all involved is considerably higher.

  2. Why are Italians obsessed with us and our league? You tried to start a super league but that collapsed when our clubs left. You need to work on yourselves and stop pointing fingers.

  3. @Carl.

‘our league’ haha! all the best players are foreign, the best coaches are foreign, the owners are all foreign and sky is owned by an Australian.

  4. 62.5% of the players in Serie A are foreign. Lazy country, lazy people. Get to work! Why do you think everyone wants to invest in our country? Have you asked yourself that question?

  5. Carl!
you left the Eu and now with the cost of living crisis, no descendant of workhouse plebs like you can afford the rent I charge in London! Like the city and its wealth, I only find hardworking foreigners as tenants!

  6. We’re obsessed with the kick and run league lol we’re obsessed with winning! The Italian national team is proof of that. I think Leao is worth 200 million. To an English team i would add another 50 on top cos there sad enough to pay it. This entire AC Milan team was born of ideas and a specific game plan and identity. All the prem teams can do is buy the obvious talent for stupid money while we make our own champions. Carl how did the Euros go for your overpaid carthorses?
