Mauro Icardi seems destined to return to Serie A in the summer following an incredibly disappointing season with Paris Saint-Germain.

The 29-year-old Argentinian forward has only played 46 minutes of Champions League action this season, failing to play a single minute against top sides like Manchester City and Real Madrid, and he’s unhappy being such a bit-part player in the French capital.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Juventus’ acquisition of Dusan Vlahovic last months closes the door on a possible Icardi move to Turin, but he could still return to Serie A regardless, with Italy the top of the list of his preferred destinations.

Roma tried to sign Icardi last summer before going for Tammy Abraham and Milan have also been keen on the Argentinian on the past, so there’s a number of clubs he could look to join in the summer transfer window.

Icardi has scored four goals in 19 Ligue 1 appearances this season, playing 969 minutes of action.

7 thought on “Icardi still bound for Serie A return?”
  1. I think Serie A is his best bet, as his lack of pace and running fits the league better than England, Germany, Spain or France.

  2. I’m sure his salary demands would also keep him out of Serie A. He has waisted his youth on drama instead of building his football career. And no, he is not a replacement for Insigne they are completely different players.

  3. He would not be a Insigne replacement. But teaming up with Osimhen as a striker would be incredible. Napoli have wingers. Losing Insigne won’t be a loss. And i feel his salary would come second to getting real playing time.

  4. Lazio has their strikers? WHAT?

Lazio desperately needs a vice-Immobile this summer, as currently there is only him as a proper central striker. Though I do not under any circumstances see Icardi as a personality, who I would want in the squad. I would much prefer Belotti. If that is possible.

Somewhere further South he might feel more at home culturally, so Napoli would be an option. But is Icardi going to be happy with being back up? If not then Fiorentina is his best bet, but they probably cannot afford his wage (neither can Lazio tbh).

Inter has just added Caicedo and are overloaded with strikers. Milan has 3 options for 1 position. Juventus is probably the best bet, as rotation for Vlahovic.
