“Argentina is the priority,” the 20-year-old told Mondo Pallone. “I dream of wearing the shirt of my home nation. I’ve already worn it for the Under-20 side.
“I have spoken to Argentina boss Alejandro Sabella, we saw each other after the game against Roma,” the former Barcelona youth added.
“I’ve not spoken to Italy’s Cesare Prandelli though. I know that Italy have expressed an interest in me, but they did that by contacting my club.
“I’m also aware of what Prandelli said about me in a Press conference.”
Icardi, who reports suggest will join Inter at the end of the season, has nine goals in 21 League games this term.
