A deal was finally struck to extend his current contract to June 2023 and the striker will earn €7m per year plus numerous bonuses.

It remains to be seen what will become of the release clause set at €110m, which is valid only from July 1-15 for clubs outside Italy.

Negotiations have been dragging on for months, but Icardi always stated his desire to remain at San Siro, despite interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Chelsea.

The 25-year-old has scored 119 goals in 200 competitive appearances in an Inter jersey.
