Wanda Nara is trying to calm the Mauro Icardi storm amid reports the striker will refuse to play for Inter again unless they apologise.

The situation spiralled out of control on Wednesday when the club announced he was being stripped of the captaincy, handed to Samir Handanovic, and then he pulled out of the games against Rapid Vienna and Sampdoria.

The Corriere della Sera newspaper claims Icardi feels hard-done-by and insulted by the club for their very public dressing down, so much that he is prepared to hold a Press conference and sit on the sidelines until he receives an apology.

However, his wife and agent Wanda has been busy over the last few hours trying to smooth things over and posted a series of conciliatory messages on Twitter.

She published pictures of him crying at an Inter defeat, then reassured a fan that he should “go to the stadium and Forza Inter.”

Wanda is due to make her usual appearance on Mediaset show Tiki Taka this evening, and it’s rumoured she will use that to offer an olive branch to the club.

It was her comments on the programme last week that seemingly precipitated the situation.

“I would like for Mauro to be better protected by the club. It’s hard to tell if the mean and untrue rumours come from within or outside the club.

“If I had to choose between a new contract and the arrival of someone who will give Icardi five decent passes per game, I’d prefer the latter.”
