Mauro Icardi tried to find a way back to Inter before ultimately signing for Galatasaray this summer, reports suggest.
The Argentinian striker spent six years of his career with the Nerazzurri from 2013 to 2019 before he left for Paris Saint-Germain, initially moving on loan before making a €50m transfer the following summer.
After a difficult spell in the French capital, Icardi relaunched his career whilst on loan with Galatasaray last season, where he scored 22 goals in 24 league matches.
As reported by Tuttosport via TMW, Icardi explicitly asked his entourage to find a way for him to return to Inter this summer, keen on wearing the Nerazzurri shirt once again.
He was so keen to return, in fact, that he rejected an approach from another big Italian club – possibly Milan – in order to try and secure the move to Inter.
After failing to find a solution, Icardi ultimately decided to sign for Galatasaray on a permanent deal, putting pen to paper on a three-year contract.
He should have gone to Roma to partner with Lukako, they’d get the best welcome at San Siro!
