Mauro Icardi is reportedly close to signing a new contract with Inter worth €7m a season.

According to Sport Mediaset, Inter owner Zhang Jindong and his President-son Steven personally stepped into negotiations with Icardi.

The broadcaster explains they offered the striker a €7m salary and a €180m release clause for foreign clubs, valid from July 15.

Consequently, it now considers the Nerazzurri captain putting pen to paper ‘a mere formality’ as ‘the white smoke is getting closer’.
