“Inter begin again from Icardi,” director Ausilio told Sportitalia. “We believe in our youngsters like Mauro and Kovacic, so will build on them adding quality and experience.
“We want to create something different going forward, as we’ve laid the foundations with important work from Roberto Mancini over the last few months.
“Over the last three months there have been some positive things, even if the results did not completely arrive.
“We are in constant contact with Mancini over transfer strategy. Inter needs to be improved with something in defence, something in attack.
“We will introduce more quality, but it’s too early to talk about names.”
There are other players coming towards the end of their contracts, most notably goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.
“We are talking to Handanovic and when there is the desire to work together, an agreement is usually found, as we did with Icardi.
“Soon we will reach a clearly defined situation and the easiest in my view is a contract renewal.”
