Zlatan Ibrahimvoic considers the Milan No 11 shirt to be ‘his’ number and Fanatics are offering a 35% discount on it throughout Friday November 26 as part of their Black Friday sale.

It’s a number Ibra specifically requested upon his return to San Siro after leaving for Paris Saint-Germain in 2012 – the one he wore in his first two seasons with the Rossoneri. Initially joining on loan from Barcelona, Ibra took the No 11 and won the Scudetto in his first season with Milan, and cited that success as why he wanted to be No 11 again.

A Milan shirt printed with Ibrahimovic and No 11 would ordinarily cost £85 from Fanatics but their 35% sale means it can be snapped up for just £55.25.

Ibra wore No 21 when he re-joined Milan in December 2019 as both No 9 and No 11 were occupied – the former by Krzysztof Piatek, the latter by Fabio Borini. But Borini left Milan prior to the start of the 2020-21 season, freeing up one of Ibra’s preferred shirt numbers.

“I’ve chosen No 11 to play for Milan this season,” he said after signing a new contract with Milan in August 2020. “The fans know me with this number and I wanted to bring it back.

“Wearing No 21 I didn’t really feel like the same Ibrahimovic as the past, so I asked to have the 11 because it’s my number.”

The change appeared to work as Ibrahimovic racked up 17 goals in 21 games after taking back ‘his’ number, almost firing Milan to a first Scudetto since 2010-11 in the process. As a striker, Ibra would traditionally not wear the No 11 – but then Ibra has rarely been one for anything so ordinary.
