Zlatan Ibrahimovic will extend his contract with Milan, signing a new deal until June 2023, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Serie A giants will reportedly open talks with their star forward after the winter transfer window.

The veteran striker is Milan’s highest earner with a €7m-a-year salary and his current deal runs out in June 2022.

Ibrahimovic feels well at Milan and the club is satisfied with his performances. Therefore, the two parties are expected to reach an agreement without any problem.

Ibra has scored three goals in eight appearances in all competitions so far this season and is determined to remain at San Siro for one more year.

According to the report, Ibrahimovic’s target is to play in the 2022 World Cup that takes place in Qatar between November and December next year.

The Rossoneri want to finalise contract extensions for Theo Hernandez, Rafael Leao and Ismael Bennacer before beginning negotiations with Ibra.

Alessio Romagnoli and Franck Kessié’s extensions are among Milan’s priorities, but both players are unlikely to sign new deals at San Siro, meaning they’ll leave at the end of their contracts in June 2022.

  1. He’s not on 7m a year… he only gets that based on apps and goals scored, his on 3.5m base plus bonuses, this was in an article on this very website when he signed the contract

  2. Is it actually 7m or is it 3.5m as said above? If it is 7m would that not be better put toward getting Vlahovic, signing Kessie up or getting a top replacement if he doesn’t sign? Ibra needs to be given a role off the pitch but he cannot be relied on to play consistently at his age.

  3. @DB Milan:

Vlahovic is juBe bound, forget about him. Deal has been agreed long ago between Rocco (Fiorentina owner, self-declared juBentus fan) and Agnelli. Why do you think his agent does not even pick up the phone for Arsenal LOL
