Zlatan Ibrahimovic continues to work on a return to the field for Milan and is targeting the Champions League clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

The 41-year-old has been out of action since undergoing knee surgery in May and is expected back on the pitch towards the end of January.

According to Tuttosport, the Sweden international is planning on being ready to start from the Champions League Round of 16 ties against Antonio Conte’s Spurs.

The first leg is scheduled for San Siro on February 14, with the return match in London on March 8.

Serie A has been on a break for the 2022 World Cup and is due to resume with Milan visiting Salernitana on January 4.

There is a shortage of strikers for that game, as Olivier Giroud is still on vacation after taking France to the World Cup Final in Qatar, where they lost on a penalty shoot-out to Argentina following the 3-3 thriller.

Divock Origi continues to struggle with injury problems too.
