Zlatan Ibrahimovic turned 40 last month, but has been called up for Sweden’s World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Spain, amid reports he’s asking for a new Milan contract.

The striker confessed at the weekend that Milan might not necessarily be his final club, as he has no intention of retiring just yet.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, that is because Ibra has set his sights on participating in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

That will be in November and December 2022, so he’d need a contract extension to June 2023 with Milan to be ready for that tournament.

Ibrahimovic had been forced to miss UEFA EURO 2020 due to a knee injury, but he is back in the squad for Sweden’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Georgia on November 11 and Spain on November 14.

He had been out of the running for five years before his recall in March.

Sweden squad: Dahlberg (Doncaster), Nordfeldt (AIK), Olsen (Sheffield United); Krafth (Newcastle), Lindelof (Manchester United), Holmen (Caykur Rizespor), Olsson (Malmo), Augustinsson (Sevilla), Sundgren (Aris), Nilsson (Arminia Bielefeld), Milosevicn (AIK); Claesson (Krasnodar), Ekdal (Sampdoria), Forsberg (RB Leipzig), Eriksson (Djurgardens), Sema (Watford), Karlsson (AZ), Cajuste (Midtjylland), Svanberg (Bologna), Olsson (Anderlecht), Lewicki (Malmo); Isak (Real Sociedad), Ibrahimovic (Milan), Kulusevski (Juventus), Quaison (Al-Ettifaq), Gyokeres (Coventry)

  1. Jesus just forget about Sweden. He is healthy for two matches again and he wants to go play for the national team SMH
