Zlatan Ibrahimovic confirms today he is ‘talking’ to Milan about returning to the club in a new role. ‘We’ll see what happens.’

The announcement had been expected some weeks ago, but there still seems to be no sign of an agreement getting the all-clear.

Despite sitting in the stands for several Rossoneri matches, often next to patron Gerry Cardinale and CEO Giorgio Furlani, there is still no certainty over his future.

“I don’t know, we are talking and we’ll see what happens,” was the only response Ibrahimovic gave to Sky Sport Italia.

The Sweden international hung up his boots at the end of last season, having realised he could not make a full recovery from that long-term knee injury.

He is widely expected to come back to Milan, but it remains to be seen in what position, as he seems unhappy with the idea of being nothing more than a brand ambassador.

The club is reticent to give Ibra a directorial role, especially after sacking Milan legend Paolo Maldini and his right hand man Frederic Massara.
