Zlatan Ibrahimovic was reported to have picked up a muscular problem in his right thigh while away on international duty with Janne Andersson’s Sweden earlier in the week.

Now, it has been confirmed that the 41-year-old is set for another spell on the sidelines as a result of the problem he picked up after the 3-0 loss to Belgium last Friday.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Ibrahimovic will have to miss Milan training for at least 10-15 days as he lets the strain in his upper leg heal properly.

The influential centre-forward already had to sit out of Sweden’s 5-0 demolition of Azerbaijan in the Euro 2024 qualifiers on Monday evening, having featured for just over a quarter of an hour of the Belgium game a few days prior.

The Rossoneri were told that the injury was not too serious and Andersson had labelled Ibrahimovic’s absence as “an annoyance.”

It has since been confirmed that Ibrahimovic will be monitored week-by-week as he makes his recovery from his latest injury set-back.

There will be a need for extra precaution in his rehabilitation process, as he has only just recovered from a nine-month absence following knee surgery at the end of last season.

Ibrahimovic’s sole focus will be on Milan’s remaining 11 Serie matches, as he was removed from Stefano Pioli’s Champions League squad mid-way through this campaign.

  1. what did I say on 15th March?…

I love Ibra and all he has done for Milan. But if he gets hurt whilst with Sweden and misses matches again, he should do what Redondo did and ask not to be paid, or donate the money to charity. A lot time waiting for him to return to fitness so it would be ridiculous if he gets hurt whilst on international duty.

    It was inevitable.
