Ibrahimovic ruled out for at least seven months following latest knee surgery

Milan star Zlatan Ibrahimovic underwent keyhole knee surgery today and will remain out of action from seven to eight months, Milan announced.

The Serie A champions announced that the 40-year-old sustained a surgery at Lyon’s Hôpital Jean Mermoz today.

Doctor Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet performed the surgery in the presence of the club’s chief doctor Stefano Mazzoni.

Milan claim the operation had been scheduled a long time ago, adding that the striker won’t return to action before seven or eight months.

Ibrahimovic has been struggling with injuries this season and has missed 18 games due to physical issues this term.

He was introduced in the second half of Milan’s 3-0 win over Sassuolo on Sunday, which saw the Rossoneri claim the 19th Serie A title in their history, the first one in 11 years.

Ibra returned to Milan in January 2020 and has scored 92 goals in 159 games during his two spells with the Rossoneri. His contract at San Siro runs out in June.

BB Ibra. He can never be thanked enough but gotta say, its time for him to stop. Or I mean he can continue with Milan but not like this. He is toooo expensive. We need depth and for that if we want to have quality, we must be willing to pay.

    No cigar Zlatan

  4. Francesco

Lol, injury number 565389. Dude is making some really easy money at Milan.

  5. Milan Fan

That should settle it then. 10 month plus recovery for his age means a full year.

  6. LUIGI

    Sunset on a beautiful career.

  7. Stan (Milanfan)

This allows Milan to buy more strikers irrespective of him staying or not. I don’t pay him so if the clubs wishes to have him around, I support it because no one can deny the impact he has had on the team and whether he plays only one minute throughout the season is irrelevant which is why this injury is probably a good thing happening early so we have all the time for a plan without him

  8. Gre-No-Li

Well, he should hang his boots. After all, he would be saying goodbye with a bang, with an important and unexpected title, in a memorable campaign.

    Keep him as a cheerLeader
