There are growing reports Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be out of action for at least another month with a calf strain, different to the injury that he suffered against Napoli.
The 39-year-old limped off during the 3-1 win away to Napoli on November 22 with a thigh injury and had been in training with an aim to return this weekend against Sassuolo.
However, he sustained a new setback with sources from Milan talking about a ‘haemorrhagic suffusion in the soleus muscle.’
There are growing reports Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be out of action for at least another month with a calf strain, different to the injury that he suffered against Napoli.

However, he sustained a new setback with sources from Milan talking about a ‘haemorrhagic suffusion in the soleus muscle.’
There will be further tests in 10 days, but La Gazzetta dello Sport spoke to a specialist in sports medicine about the diagnosis.
“A haemorrhagic suffusion is a very small gathering of blood, which means there has been a rupture in the fibres of the muscular tissue,” said Doctor Giacomo Zanon of the San Matteo hospital in Pavia.
“So if there is blood, that means it is not a small tear. Something has ruptured. I also should point out the soleus muscle is not the calf, it is one of the muscles that are fundamental in the push of a step.
“A trauma with blood is an important lesion. Plus, the soleus is the muscle that requires the longest time to heal. It’s unlikely to think the prognosis will be under four weeks.”
That would rule Ibrahimovic out of the games against Sassuolo, Lazio, Benevento and even Juventus on January 6.
