Milan have released a video of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s arrival last night, as he will sign the extension tomorrow. ‘I am not here to be a mascot.’

The Swede flew in to Linate Airport with a private jet and immediately had a COVID-19 test, so he went into isolation until the results have come through.

If they are clear, he can sign the one-year contract on Monday and begin training with his teammates.

Ibra had arrived as a free agent in January from the LA Galaxy, scoring 10 goals in 18 Serie A games, but took some time to negotiate a new deal worth €7m.

He’ll turn 39 in October and this is technically his third stint at Milan after 2010-12.

“I wanted to come back home. Now we can start working to bring in even better results,” Ibrahimovic told the official Milan website.

“As I’ve always said, I am not here to be a mascot, but to bring results, to get Milan back where they ought to be. We had six great months, but haven’t won anything yet.

“We have the chance now to work from the start and make sacrifices to reach our objectives. I feel in good shape. I hope to see the fans in the stadium soon, as the team needs its supporters and we want to get them jumping. Forza Milan, always.”
