Zlatan Ibrahimovic warns Milan might not necessarily be his final club, although the 40-year-old believes in the Scudetto, and takes credit for putting PSG on the map. ‘I can’t be surprised if I’m the best.’

The 40-year-old spoke to Telefoot in France about his lengthy career, especially after recently entering his fifth decade.

“The secret to my longevity is in the mind, as I am trying to prove that 40 is just a number and I can continue to do what I love,” said Ibra.

“I want to keep improving every day. Obviously, I can’t play the way I did before, but I am more intelligent now and have more experience.”

Naturally, he took some time to play up to his usual arrogant persona that has accompanied him for so many years.

“I am not surprised by my performances, I am the best. I can’t be surprised if I’m the best. I try to help my teammates to get better.

“I have nothing more to prove, but I don’t want to retire and then regret it, thinking I could’ve continued. I don’t want to stop until I am kicked out, well and truly finished.”

With that in mind, his contract with Milan to June 2022 does not necessarily mean this will be the last club of his career.

“I’m not sure, we’ll see. I said I want to continue as long as I can. If they were to release me and I felt that I could continue, then I would.”

Milan are currently top of the Serie A table alongside Napoli and Ibrahimovic is confident he can add more silverware to his trophy cabinet.

“We can believe in our chances. The more you believe, the more it becomes possible. Without belief and hard work, you cannot achieve your targets.”

Ibra has said in the past he helped to put Major League Soccer on the map with his move to the LA Galaxy and now takes credit for Ligue 1 too.

“I was one of the first to arrive when PSG was taken over and I saw changes in just 48 hours. I am very proud to have been there from the start, because without me, PSG would not have become what it is now.

“I didn’t come to Paris for money or the city, but to change everything.”

  1. What a bighead of an ego he is far far away from being any way near the best he has been an above average player and now he’s showing his age,
Good luck they are going to need it if anyone else signs him after Milan
but he would be great at walking football
