Zlatan Ibrahimovic has no interested in hanging up his boots just yet, underlining how he’ll ‘make himself heard’ upon his return to action for Milan.

The 40-year-old Swedish forward was forced to undergo knee surgery in the summer after managing a niggling injury across last season, but he’s keen to return to the pitch as soon as possible. Ibrahimovic scored eight goals in 23 Serie A appearances last campaign, playing an important role on and off the pitch for Stefano Pioli’s side.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ibrahimovic discussed his hunger to return to football and the hard work of his recovery.

“I am arrogant, zero fear. I’m well, I’m working every day to come back. When I come back, I’ll make myself heard, you can count on that. I’ll do it violently. Patience is needed, that’s the key now.”

The 40-year-old Swede ruled out the possibility of retirement, despite suggestions from former Rossoneri midfielder Zvonimir Boban.

“Boban said it would be better for me to quit? If I see a stronger player than me, I’ll retire. But I haven’t seen that yet.”

He touched on the improvements Milan made across the summer transfer window and his happiness with the squad.

“We’re even stronger than last year as a squad. Overall, we’re a better team, the market in the summer after winning the Scudetto strengthened us and now we have more alternatives on the bench.

“If I didn’t like things, I wouldn’t be here.”

Finally, Ibrahimovic discussed the qualities of new Milan signing Charles De Ketelaere, one of the most exciting youngsters in European football.

“De Ketelaere is a top player, I’ll say that. You just have to give him some time to grow.”
