Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic said Gianluigi Donnarumma ‘would have stayed’ if the Rossoneri ‘had given him what he asked for’ and believes the Italy international is ‘stronger’ than Keylor Navas.

The 22-year-old left Milan after 2020-21, when his contract at San Siro expired. He joined the French giants on a free transfer, as the Rossoneri didn’t match his wage demands.

But the shot stopper has struggled for playing time under Mauricio Pochettino at the Parc des Princes, where Navas is the preferred option in goal.

Ibrahimovic, however, pointed out the young goalkeeper would have remained at Milan if the club had met his demands and believes he will be able to claim the place between the sticks at PSG.

“Gigio is a great goalkeeper,” Ibrahimovic told Corriere della Sera. “If they had given him what he asked for, he would have stayed at Milan.

“Now, he must fight to be a starter at PSG. Gigio is stronger.”

Ibrahimovic, who turned 40 in October, was then asked about his own future and stressed he’s not sure what he will do after his playing career.

“The future worries me a bit,” he admitted. “At the age of 40 I got a bit anxious.

“If I will become a coach? I don’t know, it’s so stressful … I’ll do something that will give me adrenaline. But as long as I hold up, I’ll be a centre-forward. I want to play for the Scudetto until the last day. And go to the World Cup in Qatar.”

  1. No doubt he would have stayed, if we gave him everything he asked for and his agent everything he asked for as well. It doesn’t mean their requests were justified though.

  2. Even though he has already said that he left for new experiences and not the money, who is right zlatan, dollarunner or the puppet master. There is a new reason every time they get interviewed, it’s getting boring now Milan have moved on and are happy, I hope he has long and happy career but not back in Italy at a rival

  3. Ibra , towing the party line for Mino ! Disappointing really.

Its not really about who is right and wrong , it was a loss for Milan, driven by a greedy agent. The fans feel aggrieved logically.

  4. These comments by Zlatan do make Donnaruma’s excuse that he left for a new experience a load of Bull. Us fans aren’t stupid, we see it for what it is and Zlatan has just confirmed it. Just shows Gigio is loyal to his agent, nothing more. That black tongued crook Raiola has Giogios ear and that makes him look sad and weak. Maignan is an upgrade imo so we came out of that situation better of, can Dollaruma say the same…..hmmmm

  5. So much for all the “he just needed a change of scene” or “he wanted another challenge” LMAO Zlatan just ruined Raiola and Dollarumma. Nobody is surprised here, we all knew it was only about the $$$

Now enjoy the challenge of sitting on the bench of the vice-champions of the farmers league !!! So far his main job has been to tighten the screws of the PSG bench Hahahaha

  6. Definitely it was a loss for Milan losing Donnarumma and Hakan.
Milan have to invest a bit more if they want a throphy…see what the neighbour have done
