Zlatan Ibrahimovic will have to delay his first meeting with the Milan squad in his new role for a bit longer, as he is still suffering from flu symptoms.

It was officially announced this week that the Swede has returned to the club as an ‘Operating Partner’ for RedBird as well as a ‘Senior Advisor to AC Milan Ownership and Senior Management.’

However, he was meant to have a pep talk with the group after their Champions League victory away to Newcastle on Wednesday night, which proved enough to secure a place in the Europa League play-offs.

The encounter was postponed as Ibrahimovic was struggling with flu symptoms and reports suggest there will be no get-together today either.

The Rossoneri will host Monza on Sunday at San Siro, kicking off at 12.30 GMT.

Coach Stefano Pioli pointed out that Ibrahimovic had not spoken to the players before the visit to Newcastle and therefore had no influence on them going into that crucial Champions League fixture.

  1. The whole thing idiotic. The the he’ll is an ‘operating partner?’ He is gonna advise on internet content?
Management-moneyball, I guess. Good players don’t nevessarily make good managers. Good players don’t necessarily habe a positive influence in newly invented roles that blurry the lines between ownership, management and coaching staff.
Here Pioli is already focused on drawing up the lines between what HE achieves and what people think Ibra caused with his influence.
    Idiotic.

Make the man an attacking coach or let him go be a partner in the club he already owns a share.
