Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes Antonio Conte is the right man to replace Stefano Pioli, but Milan are more convinced by Bologna’s Thiago Motta, reports detail.

Pioli is widely expected to be dismissed by the Rossoneri in the summer after the team’s lack of growth this term, with the club crashing out of the Champions League in the group stage and falling far behind in the race for the league title.

Whilst no final decision has been made yet, many Milan fans believe Pioli’s time in the dugout should come to an end, even if he guided them to the Scudetto two years ago. It remains to be seen whether a Europa League title could change things for the Italian coach.

As reported by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Milan believe Thiago Motta to be one of the prime candidates to replace Pioli should he depart the club in the summer.

The Rossoneri have been following the Italian-Brazilian coach’s work at Bologna for months now and appreciate his ability to develop young players, his offensive but balanced playing style and his man-management skills.

Thiago Motta is increasingly convincing Milan that he’s the right man for the job, but former striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is still pushing for Conte, wanting the former Chelsea and Italy coach in the dugout.

  1. Motta over Conte anytime anyday. I’m probably the only milanista voting against Ibra’s return after retirement. What’s the point anyway? He’s not Baresi nor Maldini when it comes to “milanisti”.
