Former Milan striker and current advisor to the club’s owners Zlatan Ibrahimovic spoke directly with Atletico Madrid forward and Spain national team captain Alvaro Morata to discuss the possibility of a move to San Siro, according to recent reports.

Ibrahimovic crucial in Milan’s Morata pursuit

According to Spanish outlet Relevo, Ibrahimovic called Morata personally and has been credited as the one who suggested the striker as a transfer option to the Rossoneri board.

Sky Sport Italia and Gianluca Di Marzio have already confirmed Milan’s interest in the former Juventus striker, who has a release clause in his contract with Atletico Madrid, which will become active this summer.

Multiple outlets agree that the release clause stands at a figure of €13m.

Morata has recently expressed his desire to stay on with Atletico in a post on his Instagram profile, however, some have suggested that he was trying to deny links to a possible move to Saudi Arabia.

For that reason, outlets in Italy believe that Milan is still an inciting and realistic opportunity for the 31-year-old, who is set to face Germany in the EURO 2024 quarter-final on Friday evening.
