Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the fourth-oldest player to have found the net in Serie A, as the Milan striker scored against Bologna at the age of 40 years and 20 days.

Curiously, it was a very eventful match at the Stadio Dall’Ara for the Swede, because he also provided an assist for Davide Calabria and scored an own goal when accidentally flicking in a Nico Dominguez corner.

In the final minutes, he sealed the Rossoneri’s 4-2 victory over Bologna with a well-taken strike off the inside of the right boot.

Ibrahimovic is the fourth-oldest player to score in Serie A, aged 40 years and 20 days.

Pietro Vierchowod was 40 years and 47 days, the legendary Silvio Piola found the net at 40 years and 131 days.

The record-holder remains Alessandro ‘Billy’ Costacurta, who was 41 years and 25 days old when he converted a penalty in Milan’s 3-2 home defeat to Udinese.

That match on May 19, 2007 was the last of his Serie A career before retirement.
