The Federal Prosecutor Giuseppe Chiné continues the investigation into the verbal brawl between the two attackers.
La Repubblica reports the Proesutor has scheduled a hearing for both Ibrahimovic and Lukaku in the next few hours, to explain what happened during the quarter-finals of the Italian Cup.
The newspaper claims the pair risk an extension of the suspension, currently one match each in the Coppa Italia, that could run over to the League too.
The length of a possible suspension remains in doubt and it depends on the referee’s report. But the investigation continues and the players will be heard today.
Ibrahimovic has denied he racially abused Romelu Lukaku and the ‘voodoo’ comment has been linked with a previous incident from the Belgian’s Everton.
But if Ibrahimovic is charged with racism, La Repubblica reveals the punishment could be from 10 days to, in the most serious cases, a fixed-term disqualification.
Such a suspension is deemed highly unlikely by the newspaper, but the eventual verdict seems set to cross competitions and not be exclusive for the Italian Cup.
In the meantime, the two clubs are also preparing their reports for the Federal Prosecutor.
