Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira writes Napoli are serious about bringing in Ibrahimovic and will find out next week whether their pursuit is successful.

The Swede has been strongly linked with a return to Milan over the last several weeks and it was thought that the Partenopei had given up on signing him.

However, Schira is adamant they have tabled an offer for the 38-year-old, who told Asif Kapadia’s Diego Maradona documentary earlier this year that he was fascinated by the prospect of playing at the San Paolo.

Elsewhere, the transfer expert believes Allan will be sold, with Milan’s Franck Kessie or Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira coming in as a replacement.

The latter had been close to signing for Napoli two summers ago from Sampdoria but ended up moving to North London.

Back up top, Dries Mertens and Jose Callejon could be offloaded in January as new contracts would be out of the question for the pair.

Callejon has been tipped to link back up with Rafa Benitez in China, while Mertens is said to be a target for Inter.

Meanwhile, CalcioNapoli24 reports Carlo Ancelotti has already informed his squad that he will be stepping down as coach after the Champions League match against Racing Genk on Tuesday.

Gennaro Gattuso looks set to succeed Ancelotti at the helm, although former boss Edy Reja could be called back until the end of the season.
