Ibrahimovic will go down as one of MLS’ greatest imports, scoring 53 goals in just 58 games for the Galaxy before returning to Milan in January.

However, Joao Pedro painted a different picture of the Swede, arguing he was an controlling influence in the club’s dressing room.

“We went to play at Houston Dynamo,” he told Record.

“We went 1-0 up, they went ahead, we got it back to 2-2 and they responded with 3-2 in the last few minutes.

“At the end of the game, in the dressing room, he gave us a rollocking. ‘Guys, if you’re here to go to the beach and take a walk through Hollywood then just say so.

“’I have €300m in my bank account and an island. I don’t need to be here. The first person who says something to me, I’ll kill them.’

“Once we were about to have a kickabout and someone asked: ‘Who’s kicking off?’ The assistant coach said: ‘Joao Pedro because it’s his birthday today.’

“Ibrahimovic turned to him and said: ‘Everyday’s my birthday. Pass the ball over here.’ And he laughed.”
