Pippo Inzaghi feels that the three-game Serie A suspension handed to Milan teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic is excessive.

The Swede was banned yesterday after he was red-carded in the Napoli game at the weekend for slapping Salvatore Aronica.

“I was hoping that he would only get a two-game ban,” the veteran noted. “Three seem to be too much. I don’t think it was a violent gesture.

“I’m disappointed for Ibra because, apart from being a good friend, I know how important he is for Milan. We’ll miss him.”

The unavailability of Ibra for the games against Udinese, Cesena and Juventus could now open the door for the hardly-used Inzaghi.

“Will I now get a chance? That’s a question that you shouldn’t be asking me,” he noted. “I’m ready, I’m in good shape and I hope to be of use.

“However, it is clear that there are other players here like Stephan El Shaarawy who is doing well and also Maxi Lopez who has fitted in well.

“Let’s hope we can make up for Ibra’s absence.”
