Beppe Iachini saw “a good Palermo” to peg back 10-man Inter 1-1 and praised Alberto Gilardino.

The veteran centre-forward cancelled out an Ivan Perisic opener at the Stadio Barbera, then Jeison Murillo was sent off.

“Gilardino has improved a lot in recent weeks and he is our centre-forward, so he allows us to play better and acts as a focal point for the attacks,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“Gilardino has improved a lot in recent weeks and he is our centre-forward, so he allows us to play better and acts as a focal point for the attacks,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“We can improve further and are working on it, but the way Gilardino trains it’s clear he is a champion.

“Today I saw a good Palermo. In the first half if there was a side that deserved to be in front, it was us. We conceded the opener from our error, but never stopped believing and fought back very quickly to equalise.

“The game was open and we both wanted to win. Let’s not forget we were playing against Inter, who are title contenders, so it was a great performance.

“We should’ve done more with the extra man late on, but instead got stretched out and ran a few too many risks.

“Franco Vazquez works hard for the team and so far this season he’s been unlucky with his finishing. He needs more confidence in front of goal.”
