Former Inter coach Antonio Conte was given the Vittorio Pozzo Award after winning the Scudetto last season and admitted the two years at the Nerazzurri were ‘very intense’.

Conte recently joined Tottenham Hotspur coach, as he left Inter after winning the Scudetto in 2020-21 and was replaced by Simone Inzaghi at San Siro.

The coach was given the Vittorio Pozzo Award, but was unable to attend the ceremony in Turin, but he still participated on video.

“It’s a great pride and satisfaction,” Conte said, according to Sky Sport Italia. “We know what Vittorio Pozzo represents for our category. For me, winning an award named after him is truly an honour.”

Inter won their first Scudetto in 11 years during Conte’s second season with the Beneamata and stopped Juventus’ dominance in the league.

“They were two very intense years, I lived them with enthusiasm and passion,” Conte said. “I was asked to bring the title back to Inter, we all did well, including the managers, players and staff.

“In two years, I think we did a good job. Inter are now a very, very competitive team and in my opinion, they will be for several years.”

Simone Inzaghi’s men are first in Serie A after 17 games in 2021-22, while Conte has moved on and is now training England captain Harry Kane.

He was asked how he would describe the English goalscorer: “I have coached several top players in my career and now I have Kane, a true champion.

“For me, it’s a great pleasure to have him in the team, to be able to count on a player of this level. He has impressive technical qualities. I hope to able to contribute to his growth.”
