Several Milan players, including Fikayo Tomori and Davide Calabria, praised Samu Castillejo on social media after the Rossoneri’s 3-2 win over Verona.

Stefano Pioli’s side recovered from two goals down at San Siro, taking all three points home.

Samu Castillejo played a key role in Milan’s win as he earned a penalty and then his cross was deflected for an own goal by Koray Gunter.

The Spaniard had gone through tough times in a Rossoneri shirt.

During the summer, he was forced to deactivate his Twitter due to insults from Milan fans who had blamed him for turning down offers to leave the club.

Castillejo explains Milan tears: ‘It has not been an easy time’

The Spaniard seems to have formed a strong bond in the Milan dressing room as many of his teammates praised him on social media after their win last night.

Among them Davide Calabria, Fikayo Tomori, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Rafael Leao, Rade Krunic, Daniel Maldini and Pietro Pellegri.

Castillejo broke into tears after the game admitting it has ‘not been an easy time’ for him.

It was his second appearance across all competitions this season.

He also shared a message on Instagram, writing: ‘Smiles and tears, that’s what football is about.’

  1. I dont know why some Milan fans like to insult him. Sure he isnt as talented as Gigio, Kessie or probably even Hakan, but there is no doubt that he loves Milan more than these aforementioned trio. Grande Samu!

  2. I put him in the same category as Saelmaekers…both players that play hard but technical ability & intellect on the pitch at times is lacking.
