Maxime Gonalons has explained that the collapse of his move to Napoli was down to not wanting to ‘embarrass’ Lyon.

The midfielder was seen as on the verge of a move to the Vesuviani, before the Ligue 1 outfit reportedly upped their demands and collapsed negotiations.

On from Napoli’s focus elsewhere in the market, the player has indicated that the possibility of talks reopening looks remote, as he is content to stay put.

“I have spoken with the Coach and the President, it is true,” Gonalons has told BeinSport this week.
