Lazio are on the verge of signing Napoli full-back Elseid Hysaj, who will reunite with Maurizio Sarri once again.

The Albania international is a free agent, as his contract with the Partenopei was allowed to run down without reaching an agreement for an extension.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, a deal has been reached for him to join Lazio for free.

Hysaj had already followed Sarri from Empoli to Napoli for €5m in 2015.

The 27-year-old plays primarily at right-back, but can also do a job on the left, and has been in Italy since 2009 for the Empoli youth academy.

Hysaj had also been linked with a potential free transfer to Milan and Fiorentina, but with Sarri taking over at the Stadio Olimpico, Lazio were always the favourites.

He made 29 competitive appearances for Napoli in the 2020-21 season, providing three assists, and has 58 senior caps for Albania.
